This year’s theme, “55+ on Route 66!”, celebrates the adventurous spirit, resilience, and community connection that define Amarillo’s senior population. Hosted on the grounds of the organization’s new property at 2404 SW 6th Avenue, the event marks a pivotal step in ASCA’s mission to build a new Senior Activities Center—a dynamic space where local seniors can gather, stay active, and thrive through wellness programs, social events, arts, and lifelong learning.
“After years of transition, we are excited to be moving forward with a bold vision for the future of ASCA,” said Tom Scherlen, Board President, at the ASCA/55+ Club of Amarillo. “The Parking Lot Party is more than just a fundraiser—it’s a celebration of our past, present, and the vibrant future we’re creating together.”

Sponsorship opportunities are available, and local businesses are encouraged to participate and show their support for a project that will benefit one of the city’s most valued populations.
All proceeds from the event will directly support renovations to the new center, which ASCA acquired from Potter County in 2021. Once completed, the facility will serve as a permanent home for programs that meet the social, emotional, and physical needs of adults aged 55 and older in the Amarillo area.
Founded in 1973, ASCA has long served as a cornerstone for senior services in the community. After facing significant setbacks in 2020, a new Board of Directors was installed in 2023 to lead a revitalization effort grounded in innovation, inclusion, and service.
